To those reading these welcome.

"Candy carries the taste of happieness, when you suck on it a flower will blossom from your mouth" That is one of my favorite quotes from H2O footprints in the sand, and yes that is an anime. For those of you who just "lold" I am an anime lover (a.k.a. my name Otaku4life), and that is one of my favorite animes. I want to get something clear... many people at SouthWest have become extremely stereotypical when it comes down to anime. Recently the "hot topic" stereotypes have been as follows...
1.The hair is stupid looking
2. The voices don't match
3. It's too actiony (if that's even a word)
4. All the characters look American
5. The women are over the top well proportioned
6. It has no plot / the comedy makes no sence

Well In my first post I would like to disprove all of these statements...
1. This only occurs in some anime, I suggest to stop watching anime such as YU-GI-OH and Naruto and get your generlizations else where.
2. Oh really???? Well seeing how "anime" is made in Japan, where they speak Japanese I'm pretty sure they're not always going to match up with the Dub voice actors.
3. This answer is the same as #1 not all anime is actiony, there are many slice of life (kinda like seinfield except it's an anime about nothing instead), comedy, and drama animes (just to name a few genres).
4. Well what do you expect the animes and mangas make millions off of America consumers and most would rather have something familiar to them. (p.s. most dubs are voiced in Canada so that has a little to do with it)
5. This is a joke that has been going on since the somewhat beginning of anime in the late 80's early 90's (beggining of current anime culture), a few animes appealed to the single men and some animes have been continuing the trend to make fun of the beginning of this trend.
6. This is what really gets me. If you say anime has no plot than you probably watched a filler season (a season where different writers take over to give the original writers time to make the mangs, filler is never in the manga). If you thought it wasn't funny congrats you were watching the wrong genre of anime try looking up some good comedy anime's before spreading this stereotypical lie again.

Hope this brang you a little closer into the other world heres a nice starting anime if your interested. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dpVSw1YrmI&feature=PlayList&p=968DD264584D96DB&index=0

  2. I agree with your comments on common misconceptions about anime. People who only watch Americanized popular anime do not get what it is actually like. Also I didn't know there were any other Otaku in Romo's freshman classes as i would consider myself one. I have no idea who this is, I'm Jon R. (AKA voldemort if you were ever in my class) by the way if you know who that is. Also a good anime to go along with #5 is "Grenadier" if you like that continuing joke. It is a fairly funny series.

  3. Exactly it's nice to see that someone from this school sees it from my point of view. Unfortunately all my friends seem to believe those 6 stereotypes. If you have seen quite a few popular anime you should try watching the anime lucky star, it makes many hilarious references and is a nice slice of life anime.

  5. Sorry to dissapoint but there hasn't been planning to even start making the second season yet,(there was a fifth manga volume released recently in japan so there is still hope) The OVA is still coming but the second season seems near un likely with the constant delaying of the second season for kyoto animations other hit show, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.
